Workshop: Essential skills that make an impact

Patrick Noonan

Patrick S. Noonan

On the big data resource, Data Informed, John W. Foreman states, “You cannot accept problems as handed to you in the business environment. Engage with the people whose challenges you’re tackling to make sure you’re solving the right problem … Solve the correct, yet often misrepresented, problem.”

INFORMS’ “Essential Practice Skills for High-Impact Analytics Projects” workshop explores the concept of “structured problem-solving” and provides participants with practical frameworks to go from issue to action. It’s one of the many essential skills available at the two-day workshop to be held June 20-21 from 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m. each day at the Goizueta Business School, Emory University, in Atlanta.

The workshop will be led by Dr. Patrick Noonan, former assistant dean and director of MBA programs at the Goizueta Business School.

Seating is limited. The fee is $1,299 for INFORMS members, $1,499 for non-members. Discounts available for multiple attendees from the same organization.

To register, click here or contact Bill Griffin (bgriffin@informs.org) for more information.

Survey: Despite the hype, AI adoption still in early stages

The hype surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) is intense, but for most European businesses surveyed in a recent study by SAS, adoption of AI is still in the early or even planning stages. There is much optimism about the potential of AI, although fewer were confident that their organization was ready to exploit that potential. Read more →

Data professionals spend almost as much time prepping data as analyzing it

Nearly 40 percent of data professionals spend more than 20 hours per week accessing, blending and preparing data rather than performing actual analysis, according to a survey conducted by TMMData and the Digital Analytics Association.
