    Meet the new certification manager

INFORMS recently welcomed its new Certified Analytics Professional (CAP®) manager, Jan paul Miller. Miller replaces Louise Werhrle, who retired to her native Newfoundland. A Baltimore native, Miller is a credentialing professional who sees his position at INFORMS at a most opportune time. “I think the CAP and aCAP programs are on the cusp of developing great momentum. Considering that the program has submitted its ANSI application and has had a favorable onsite visit, it could not but be a harbinger of good things to come.”

Among the many factors that impact digital marketing and online advertising strategy, a new study in the INFORMS journal Marketing Science provides insight to a growing trend among firms and big brands: weather-based advertising. According to the study, certain weather conditions are more amenable for consumer responses to mobile marketing efforts, while the tone of the ad content can either help or hurt such response depending on the current local weather.
