With the INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics & Operations Research behind us and everyone getting ready for summer, our attention is turning to what’s next.

Past President Stefan Karisch is finalizing plans for a local conference in the Pacific Northwest. By collaborating with INFORMS and a local chapter of INFORMS, the Analytics Society can create additional meeting opportunities that help invigorate all three organizations.

We have received multiple requests for other local meetings and are looking to support this in 2019. If anyone has an idea for a meeting or would like to volunteer to help coordinate, please contact us through INFORMS Connect (http://connect.informs.org/home).

Aaron Burciaga (Burciaga_Aaron@bah.com) is coordinating talks at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in the fall. As in the past, we will support any member who wishes to speak at the annual meeting. Aaron welcomes any help he can get, so reach out to him if you are interested.

As has been stated many times, our power is in our members. We have 1,800 analytics professionals in our society with a wide range of knowledge and expertise. Member collaboration and involvement will make us stronger and sustainable.

Vice President Erick Wikum is focused on volunteerism. He is looking for members who are willing to help the society by getting involved in meetings, awards and other activities. Erick’s article on the topic appears elsewhere in this newsletter.

Finally, providing value to members is our top priority. The items mentioned here are examples of what we are trying to do to achieve that goal. We’d love to hear what would be valuable to you. Be on the lookout for a member survey to query your thoughts.

Jack Levis is president of the Analytics Society of INFORMS.
