Encarnación named SAS, Analytics Section Student Scholarship winner

Trilce Encarnación

Trilce Encarnación, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in transportation engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, was named the winner of the Student Analytical Scholar Competition sponsored by the Analytics Society of INFORMS and supported by SAS. Encarnación’s application earned her free registration, lodging and travel to the upcoming INFORMS Business Analytics & Operations Research Conference in Las Vegas on April 2-4, as well as participation in the Professional Colloquium at the conference. She will present a poster of her work at the conference.

The competition aims to provide a positive learning experience for students about developing a statement of work for an analytics project. To learn more about the competition, click here.

Data professionals spend almost as much time prepping data as analyzing it

Nearly 40 percent of data professionals spend more than 20 hours per week accessing, blending and preparing data rather than performing actual analysis, according to a survey conducted by TMMData and the Digital Analytics Association. More than 800 DAA community members participated in the survey held earlier this year.
