Corporate Mobile Software-as-a-Service Forecast


According to the latest Strategy Analytics Wireless Enterprise Strategies forecast, “Corporate Mobile SaaS Forecast, 2010-2016,” the Global Corporate Mobile SaaS Market will reach $1.2 billion in 2011 and grow to $3.7 billion by 2016, with a five-year compound growth rate (CAGR) of 25.8 percent. The ability to integrate powerful business applications on smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices will facilitate and accelerate SaaS adoption in the corporate business environment.

Corporations with employees who travel increasingly look to unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) hosted VoIP, Web and Video conferencing solutions as a cost-cutting mechanism. UCaaS is a key alternative to premise-based UC platforms for improving productivity, processes and workflow.

“The corporate UCaaS hosted VoIP market, already generating over $176 million, is set to undergo nearly 57 percent year-on-year growth in the next five years,” says Gina Luk, senior analyst of Wireless Enterprise Strategies. “Leading mobile operators, such as AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone and Everything Everywhere (Orange & T-Mobile) already offer a variety of smartphone and wireless devices which enable VoIP applications on 3G and WiFi networks. Consequently, corporate adoption of the technologies needed for an expanding anytime, anywhere workforce – from mobile devices to mobile VPNs – is on the rise.”

Andrew Brown, director of Wireless Enterprise Strategies (WES) at Strategy Analytics, add, “Smart corporations are taking advantage of the increased availability of both UCaaS and cloud-based business solutions at a significantly lower total cost of ownership.”


Forbes names Dietrich a leader of the data analytics pack

INFORMS member Brenda L. Dietrich, an IBM Fellow, vice president and leader of IBM’s data science group, was recently profiled by Forbes in an article headlined, “Meet 9 Women Leading The Pack In Data Analytics.” Dietrich is also an INFORMS Fellow and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Female members of corporate boards of directors are nearly twice as likely as their male counterparts to have professional technology experience, according to new research from Accenture. To understand the gender composition of corporate boards and the role technology plays in the careers of female board members, Accenture examined women’s representation on the boards of more than 500 Forbes Global 2000 companies in 39 countries across Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Australia. Study: Consumers buy close to what they first searched online

Given the ease of online search, consumers can explore and discover hundreds of available items in any category. Retailers and advertisers are keen to influence the search and final purchase through better product recommendations and targeted advertising. A forthcoming article in the INFORMS journal Marketing Science studies online search and purchase behavior of consumers in the digital camera category and finds that even though consumers may search for extended periods of time, what they purchase tends to be remarkably close to items they searched and found in their very first search.
